SOULFILLET: Fishing out the Original from Pinoy Music

Here is a letter from SOULFILLET'S creator, Jhon Balbuena: and it reads...

Soul Fillet started around july last year and have been going till now, monthly. The sentiment behind Soul Fillet is that Hip Hop is quite a club and bar-sale driven commodity these days. Being an avid musician, dj and producer, I feel that Manila needs a night to give focus on the music itself and definitely attention the ORIGINAL PRODUCTIONS around us (we import too much hahahaha).

Of course we are not ignoring the fact that people still need to have fun, dance and drink up. But I guess we SOUL FILLET want to shed some light to the emcees, producers, djs and enthusiasts as such. Coming from bands like Kapatid and Kjwan and how we have stamped our marks in the map for making ORIGINAL music, the more I value original productions around us. I feel that there are so much more original creations out there but they are just kept in the bed room, so we need this little fish SOUL FILLET to fish them out hahahah. That was the birth of Soul Fillet.
